Acid Red 18, sold as Acid Scarlet 3R, is a monoazo acid dye with three sulphonate groups, which makes it very soluble in water. It gives a clear scarlet-red shade.
In industry it is used to dye wool, silk and nylon, and to colour leather and paper. The same chemical is known as Ponceau 4R when made to food grade; the Acid Red 18 we supply is industrial grade.
Acid Red 18 is used for wool dyeing, silk dyeing, nylon dyeing, leather dyeing and paper colouring.
