Acid Yellow 42, sold as Acid Milling Yellow R, is a disazo milling acid dye. Milling dyes have larger molecules than levelling dyes, so they give better fastness to washing and wet treatments on wool and nylon.
It is often combined with other milling dyes such as Acid Red 119 and Acid Blue 113 to produce browns, olives and dark shades. Acid Yellow 42 is not on India’s list of banned azo dyes. We make it at GIDC Ankleshwar and supply it in 25 kg bags and drums.
